Ukraine has shown the truth of your assessment with their Kursk incursion but the EU isn't willing to invade russia.

Considering the state of russia's economy my preference would be the EU confronting russia in eastern Ukraine. This way russia is defeated by an economic collapse.

European force should enter Ukraine and defend the Belarus border and all west of Ukraine. Free all Ukrainian soldiers to help in all fronts. They could have more rotations, fresher troops -> less losses and inflict much more pain in the Russians

Sadly it's a myth. In 1939 peacetime GER army was very large and mobilised GER army could face POL, FRA and UK combined, though attack only one at a time. UK was saved only because it is on an island. Obviously SOV support helped a lot like no need to guard eastern conquests while invading FRA.
