I’m not so sure about that. I think a 3rd term for Trump is pretty far down the list of worries for democracy — in the minimalistic, “parties lose elections” sense. This could entirely happen with Vance as successor.

Btw, I agree with you that the possibility of them going for a third term exists. There’s a reason why autocrats often stay in office until they die or are very, very old — autocratic succession is a very hard problem to solve!

With all due respect, this is not something we should be resting our hopes on. Vance would be considerably worse. He is being bankrolled by the PayPal broligarchs - the very people attempting to realize Curtis Yarvin’s fever dreams of killing democracy and running the US like a tech conglomerate.
