The biggest thing stopping Linux from taking over the consumer desktop market is that Linux is an operating system designed by and for people who know how computers work, and most of the people who use computers today do not. I'm not saying this to disparage anyone, it's just a fact.

I'd really rather have an operating system created by people who know how computers work than people who don't know how computers work.
Nor am I trying to disparage anyone.
Just because it is superior, doesn't mean it'll dominate, eg see VHS vs Betamax.
