If John Roberts actually cared about criticism of the court, he would call out Alito and Thomas for making a mockery of the ethics code he loves to talk about.
But he won't. He is as deeply compromised as they are.
Another reason we need to put term limits on the Supreme Court. We may have to wait 2 to 4 years but we the people should plan on impeaching a couple of justices v
I’m struck by the fact that Alito’s origin story begins in opposition to NYC-NJ-style machine politics, and ends in incomplete capitulation to the same.
Let's use the best case scenario in say that alito and Trump did not talk about the case that Trump put to the Supreme Court ahead of time.
You would think they would care about the appearance of a compromised SCOTUS judge. But maybe they're not smart enough to realize that's what it looks like!
Of course he does. The fact that he tried to run interference against his bias, lack of ethics by claiming ignorance of Trump’s call is why this court is not taken seriously anymore.
Whenever I read about Trump having a "chat" with someone, I wonder what that would be like. Does he really know how to have a conversation? Is there any back and forth of ideas? Or does the person just have to listen to him lie and brag?
Remember when Bill Clinton met briefly with Loretta Lynch? Their planes were parked next to one another at some airport. Conservatives went totally ape shit. They went ballistic. Into tomorrow. For this? Crickets. Republican Situational Ethics.

I say, “In a pig’s eye! Your behavior reeks of impropriety!”
Tuesday’s phone call to Alito could have waited until after Trump’s “Hail Mary passes” had been ruled on by SCOTUS!

After all, he’s a convicted felon. & his 5th Ave speech. & his pu##y grabbing speech.
Oh wait...SCOTUS' new shiny ethics rules have no enforcement mechanism...so he's all good.
