So rather than think it’s great what she’s doing (reported by someone else, not her), you treat it like garbage under the assumption that you know what else she does or doesn’t.
This is the equivalent of conservatives burning Nikes and pretending to boycott Budweiser and the NFL. Virtue signaling. Nothing more. It's not that I'm not glad she did. Don't misinterpret my intent. But in the aggregate, it means nothing. Why she post a photo if it not for political theatrics?
Weird response. She didn’t blow up her tesla she sold it and gave the proceeds to an org she supports. I wish people had stopped drinking musk’s bs earlier but I see no legit reason to take issue with this. Why is any public action sentiment meant with a response of, “it’s performative?”
And believe me, I know... every movement needs a figure head and that figure head morphs over time n'shit. I get it. But buying a Tesla in the first place is what helped escalate the situation to the point to where we now need to collectively fight it. Don't gloss over that fact is all I'm sayin.
Dude, seriously. I'm not trying to argue here and say you're wrong. Just pointing out a perspective I had clearly missed back when I used to argue the points you use now. You're not wrong, you're just missing something important.
This cat seems to think there's altruism to be found in the gesture.
I don’t think you understand how people work. You may see it as performative, but there is power in that because sometimes other people need that public act for them to feel ok to take action. This idea that political acts should only be done in silence is very odd
See that's just the thing. I do understand how people work.
For example. If I posted with photos that I sold my Tesla and donated all the money to the same org, would you even care? Probably not. I'm just some asshole on the internet. But if I was famous, things would be different yeah? Why?
They are trying to do their “whataboutism” here - it’s not the same - she sold it and did something positive. The right and conservatives just act out and cause pain - this was a beautiful gesture - that’s why she posted it to show there is a better way
Trying to unring a bell. Look, don't get me wrong, I understand her intentions and I'm not in disagreement here for the reasons you stated. But the old adage "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" cannot be ignored for the same reason boycotting Nike and the NFL didn't. Doesn't work.
Short term damage in a long term game mate.
Despite Target's backlash boycott over whatever the fuck conservative freaked out about last time, they're still in business. Unless you want to concede the rollback of their DEI program was a conservative boycott win.
Agreed. Also the NFL is a monopoly so harder to boycott that vs the car market which has plenty of competitors so you can opt out of tesla easily (ex: love my Hyundai Ioniq EV)

Are you amazed at that?
If yes, I'm going to need you to explain to me how.
Altruism doesn't require a camera mate.

I think it had more to do with who got elected more than anything else. But I'll admit I could be wrong.

Because that happened.
Other than saying "Ooh look at me!" I don't see the point in this.
