"in front of a just-OK crowd" is wild way to describe 10,000 empty seats. Tourney was good, but the atmosphere came across very flat on tv. Maui is far more compelling to watch. Wish WBD would buy Maui Invitational & put resources there instead of a big empty arena in Vegas.

Inbox: All Players Era Festival schools have been wired $1 million, which will soon be given to the players.

"The Players Era Festival will feature at least 18 teams in 2025, adding several more preeminent men’s basketball programs and with international-style group play and championship matchups."

Very cool to see #sjubb here. Would be a fun time in Vegas but they need to fix the schedule so it doesn’t go through Thanksgiving. The Maui and Baha Mar schedules are perfect. Who wants to sit around in Vegas on Thanksgiving day when there aren’t even games being played?

I have no idea if a tournament based on the premise of paying at least $1 mil for every school can last, but if it does there will be attempts at copycats—ESPECIALLY b/c schools will soon pay players via revenue sharing. Athletic departments will be desperate for money to keep up in the rat race.
