Just listened to @restisclassified.bsky.social episode on the Georgi Markov murder. David mentioned the Bulgarians having a reputation for being the KGBs go-to for wet-work and that it was in some Clancy technothrillers.
Fleming used Bulgarians in Casino Royale the original #JamesBond book as well.
