A lot of this is people either not getting something or looking at art that was not made for them and refusing to try and relate because they expect to be spoon fed meaning and value. The other part of it is people intrinsically relating value to price alone and not what the art offers.

One hill I'll always die on is that art doesn't lack value because it's unpleasant or not understood or not "pretty" and people who say that stuff isn't art are acting in bad faith or falling for propaganda.
