Hi European here. We dont have tarrifs but the prices are the same. I hope this helps. Nintendo is riding the high of the Switch and needs a wii u to humble them

That may seem to be the case. Other countries raise prices for certain things in retaliation to tariffs, affecting Japan and China, which make things they make a bit more expensive in general. Also, inflation. It might suck but it seems to be the case for other games outside of Nintendo as well.

Prices are the same in Japan too, but ofc if you convert to the USD, it’s “cheaper.”

I don’t really have a strong opinion on this. I just think Nintendo isn’t as evil as those other companies everyone else still supports, like Sony and Microsoft. But that’s just me.

Isnt as Evil does the heavy lifting here. Like Sony isnt as bad as EA too but we arent looking for a company that is less bad. The switch 2 is way to expensive and they knew it and them offering the console at 300 bucks in japan only really shows that well

Well, the truth is, my friends in Japan all balked at the 49,980 yen price tag. It’s $300 to us, but it’s still 49,980 yen. Assuming it’s the value of $300 is ethnocentric, and I don’t mean this as an insult to you. It’s just, we can’t look at the prices from our countries’ perspectives.

Because the cost of living and purchasing power of our currencies are different.

Japanese people don’t make a lot of money in comparison to us. Their minimum wage are as low as 1,000 yen per hour.That’s $7 per hour.

So I hope this helps with perspective!

its weird how its around 10 to 20 percent and yet it still costs way more in Germany then in japan. But yeah its in general a great idea when people lose purchasing power to put the price even higher for them. Thanks Nintendo

I'm more worried about these shitty forced obsolescence decisions they are making. Game carts only with keys not the actual game? What happens when they kill the servers? No more games no matter what the initial cost. It's just poor business.

I am, too. Unfortunately it seems like this is how the world is going. I’m glad at least Nintendo didn’t completely get rid of cartridges for now, like how Sony created a console that was purely digital with no CD drive 😩

Yeah but the cartridges have no point other than to serve as a license key which could easily and likely will be done on accounts anyways for digital purchases. So in this case cartridges are literally worthless.
