It’s been a minute since I’ve done one of these and I need to step away from the gloomy timeline for a little bit. Fellow comedy writers, let’s meet. What you writing, watching, how are you procrastinating? #Scriptsky

Finishing re-writes on a sitcom that’s The Good Place meets People of Earth. And procrastinating with watching a bunch of shows on Dropout TV and/or parenting children.
Comedy wise? My comedy is actually on the back burner atm as I try to finish my horror novel, but I’ve been thinking about novelising a comedy/ horror pilot and I’m looking forward to writing some comedy again.
Just finished a Christmas Comedy-Drama. Re-working two solo shows I did years ago into features. Turns out they seem to work best in this format. Re-watching Ted Lasso.
Figuring out what my next project is, or whether it’s a long overdue draft of a previous script.
And, for the first time, I’m watching Battlestar Galactica. (The 2000s version. Still perturbed that they’re using corded phones and paper printouts) #Scriptsky
Yeah. Don’t skip this one. It has some weak spots but overall does a great job honoring the 1 and only season of the original while being its own thing in a big way.
But. If it is truly your first time. And you did not watch the backdoor pilot/mini-series the plot point gets lost very quickly and only referenced 2/3 times in the rest of the series run. Some of the best tv sci-fi ever written.
But, rewatching GRAVITY FALLS with my kiddo is giving me life. And also, makes me want to revisit the goofy paranormal script I wrote forever ago and left to the wayside. Horror comedy is my peanutbutter and chocolate 😊

Ramp up the stupid and make with the poking of the fun.
Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck.
I'm reading The Fourth Turning Is Here, which doesn't help distract from the darkest timeline, but is super interesting.
BONES ANS ALL meets HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS kinda vibes...
What are you working on?
Just finished a draft for my latest comedy pilot about a college kicker, placeholder, and long snapper on a football team. Think WORKAHOLICS.
Would love to read yours when you're ready for eyes - sounds right up my ally!
I feel like with the critical success of A Different Man and some of A24's upcoming stuff, it's a renaissance for the dark comedy feature.
But I'm currently working on a stunt script for an episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, and a feature about a daywalking vampire hunter in space.
The day walking vampire hunter in space script have a title?

My next question is: if they’ve never seen Earth, why are they praying to Roman Gods?
Can't remember if it covers that specifically, but the show bible is pretty interesting:
