The trouble is that they are growing in numbers due to the lack of an effective counter-narrative. Others mirroring their message is definitely not helping either.
Farage's various businesses/parties take in the stupid, the weak and the ignorant, give them simple slogans, and mop up... and if they get in as mayor, and things go to sh*t, will say 'the woke people blocked us'. It takes explanation to dismantle their stupidity... and as Reagan said
It's basically a cry of frustration with the whole system. We've had 15 years of cuts and there's a strong sense that the system doesn't work for ordinary people anymore. Voters don't appreciate dire financial straits we are in, so they turn to charlatans who promise easy answers.
