Meteor Crater near Winslow, Arizona, was created over 50,000 years ago when a meteorite made of nickel and iron made it through the earth’s atmosphere and impacted the ground. The crater is 0.737 miles across and 580 feet deep and rises above the flat terrain of northeast Arizona.
