These kinds of people would rather accept fascist oligarchical rule than take up arms and fight for their families and friends. They believe their inaction to be a morally superior position, without realising that inaction is still a choice they make for everyone and would lead to more suffering.
Hard as I try I cannot understand the far left. Don’t know what provoked Putin in Chechnya or Georgia etc. and I don’t know what they’d do if someone broke into their house and moved in. I would genuinely like to know.
The tankie left will go through rhetorical contortions rather than name autocratic states for what they are. Through their lens nobody has agency but the US.
For a large chunk of the Left only the West can be baddies, only western imperialism is bad, everyone else is merely a pawn or a victim. I think for many people it’s less scary to imagine ‘we’ run the world, than the messy complex reality.
Come on : 12 CIA bases, american army even came to Ukraine and Crimea referendums were not respected. Putin is clearly a fascist, but noone can say it was "unprovoked".
Do you think the Crimean referendum was remotely free or fair? and the American army was there to train Ukrainian soldiers because Russia invaded in 2014! Russia claimed hospital laboratories were bioweapon facilities - they'll make up any old nonsense and simpletons will belive them
Yes. And the only reason they invaded is because Putin want his soviet states back together again. No other reason. He has said this himself in speeches.
Well, do you remember what happened in Cuba when russian missiles were deployed close to the american border ? It's easy to understand that a country would react if attack missiles and/or armies were deployed at its very frontier. 1/2
The US didn't deploy troops in Ukraine, but it should have as it had guaranteed Ukrainian security after they gave up their nuclear weapons. There was no threat to Russia, just Putins imperial ambitions and waning popularity - he started several previous wars to boost support
