Also the US economy is largely a vehicle for subsidising corn growing in the midwest.

No one seems to have any interest in changing that. Even though they don’t need all that corn.

I’m believe they are too big to fail and there hasn’t been a large enough consumer move away to force them (and the gov that requires the lights to be available 24 hours a day) to change. I have a novel climate solution in link that anticipates business as usual, if you’re interested.
