Do people really call off work and not face overwhelming, stomach churning levels of guilt? Do they do that? How do they do that? Can they teach this skill?

My daughter is just fine calling out of work if she’s sick. I’m the one who gets bent out of shape worrying she’ll get fired.
But that’s brainwashing I’ve been subjected to my entire working life. I was raised to respect my employers, and basically, that is a fucked up way to grow up. #EatTheBoss
My dad literally drag/limped his way to work with bone spurs and was once escorted off the premises bc his blood pressure was sky high. I have to unlearn all that bullshit.
Exactly. During Covid, when work-from-home became a thing and then people quit their jobs rather than return to the office, I knew we had passed into a new and better era for workers, if only because we’ve stopped respecting employers by default.
