Excellent! I'd like to read more about it. I need to do some more research into the Brazen memorial in Newhaven (1800), where some of the crew were buried in unmarked graves, and the rest never recovered. Those poor widows...
Yup! Navies cannot exist without coasts. One of my research strands is to look at coastal navy activity -- so Sea Fencibles and the Coastal Blockade against smuggling. Some of my students have looked at the Royal Navy's smaller coastal vessels and crews and their significance in the war effort.
