I personally think it’s the best since The Wrong Trousers. I found Wererabbit had a bit too much padding and this one is perfectly paced. It also feels a bit like a welcome return to the roots of the concept.

No, it struggles with some of the same issues as Chicken Run 2.

Chicken Run 2 and Vengeance Most Fowl are both definitely worth a watch, but they both lack some of the magic from older Aardman titles.

I think it's in part because they're actively trying to appeal to an American audience now tbh.

Really have to disagree. Things like the references to the Yorkshire and lancs borders will go right over the head of the yank audience. Could not be more a return to its roots if it tried. This was also miles better than chicken run 2 on every level.

They're targeting Anglophiles though, specifically, with both Chicken Run 2 and this one. These are the kinds of Americans that watch Bake Off and British soaps, and will laugh like a school girl and clap like a seal if something sounds like a quaint little Britishism, whether they "get it" or not.

I would say that’s a supposition in your part tbh. W&G are now and always have been quintessentially British in character and that is maintained here. Chicken Run is a whole other thing the inclusion of an American lead character makes that obvious.

What I think is interesting is Wererabbit had a much weaker audience reaction than any of the prior W&G films, in part I suspect due to the change of format. Indeed this one thus far has a far more enthusiastic response. This in no one invalidates your views of course. It’s just interesting.

So what I'm saying is, Aardman can absolutely afford to still be Very British, because it's what the Americans want. That said, the pacing of each joke is incredibly Americanised and GIFable. More prominent in CR2, absolutely, but still present here.

W&G have been extremely GIFsble before GIFs even existed. That’s kinda a byproduct of clay animation. And “the pacing of each joke” is a bit weird. The jokes as always are based on short snips of dialogue or visual cues like always. 🤔

I have to get my TV fixed so I can use Netflix again. My damned Roku device doesn’t have enough memory to run Netflix!!
(TV is 14 yo and no longer connects to internet without a lot of help. To say nothing of the picture quality.)
My last TV was retired because everything was one color.
