I think that local owls have a hawk equivalent (lives in similar habitat, may even trade nests with the owls)

Short-eared Owl- Northern Harrier

Long-eared Owls like conifer stands (Merlin maybe? Maybe I should’ve included falcons), I’ve seen lost Gyrfalcons in the same habitats as Snowy Owls but Snowys don’t like cliffs…
I woke up to a Red-shouldered perched out my window (so that’s why I’m thinking about it lol)
She took off and we never saw her again. Lol.
Every time I’ve found one I’m like “this is definitely a cartoon”
