Just haunting (given he was killed at his USGS post when the mountain erupted a month and a half later).
He was 30 (like me) and a graduate of my alma mater (UIUC). The only time I've visited the site I wept uncontrollably on Johnston Ridge, I found it so much more moving than I realized.
