it really had more than potential, it was so ubiquitous here in France it became a common word... at the time, there was absolutely no usable VOIP solution out of skype. The day it was bought, we all knew MS would kill it...

@[email protected] Given that I have a phone number there and that GV uses it as the forwarding number, not sure what my options are. I'd like to dump both of them but I need to keep my longtime number and be able to use it in Portugal. Open to suggestions.

@briankrebs Skype was heaven sent when all Microsoft could offer was Lync.
They rebranded Lync to Skype for Business after they bought Skype, but it still sucked.

I always thought Teams was built on the phone/video functionality of Skype, but that might be my hallucinations.

@briankrebs It was the only messenger usable to me. Everything else either required a smart phone, or didn't support voice/video calls, or looked like shit, or all of the above.
