Interesting and Valid point.

I know a lot of yall are heaping praise on Darrington Press and Daggerheart right now and have even suggested I make content for it.

But I won’t. And here’s why.

I have no confidence in Darrington Press changing this. Maybe I'm just too cynical at this point, but I don't think there's enough potential value for them in doing so.

The deal is worse then the original OGL but I don't need an OGL to buy a game as most TTRPGs don't have one. The OGL scandal issue was the rug pull; trying to change how it worked after the fact. Here the potential changes are brought up front, and it's up to 3P devs if they want to take that risk.

I'm fine with company wanting to keep control of the product in house if they're upfront about it. But if their long term goal is a lot of 3P support changing this would be perfectly welcome!

I'm confused. section 11.3 says if you've already created something prior to a change, that thing doesn't need to be updated to fit the new wording or demands, the highlighted bits say something along the lines of "things can change whenever but in accordance to 11.3 if you made something its fine"

I suppose the issue comes from the rest of 11.3 that says if you wish to UPDATE the thing The Creator of the 3rd party content is required to make sure the terms haven't been changed, placing a heavy burden on the Creator if they wanted to adjust something to the previously distributed thing. Right?

Yes. It's the retroactive acceptance wording for 3rd party products. If they change it you can't say keep using the old license for your game line.

Oookay i see the issue now. Yeah, i guess if you came out with like, book 1, and then the license changed, you'd have to update everything for book 2, and then they could change it again for book 3, and if you wanted to update for book 1 and 2 you'd have to look for MORE changes... annoying!

Yup. Lines like Pathfinder or Tales of the Valiant would not be possible. Etc.
