Yes I think a lot of people are still viewing this in the old “Yay! Our side got a point! She’s our hero!” mode.

It’s not easy to let go of a worldview and embrace a scary new reality.

It was weak tea, but it was tea and it was served where it was needed.

Not to be Debordian on main but it's a spectacular and alienated urge, a play to avoid the Gospel she preached or the God she served by reifying her down to detached images and inspirational quotes. Don't let the world get away that easily!

Yesterday we called her sermon weak tea, and the world's famine of hearing the Word doesn't mean it's *not* tepid and underbrewed

The urge to idolize her is a disempowering one, a desire to substitute consuming her (as prayer candles sold next to RBG's, probably) for being changed utterly into fire

I get where you’re coming from. I also think it’s important to let people feel what they feel, and share that they are moved. Her words and presence ARE important, and many desperately need to have the sense of hope that it gives them. This itself may invite them to come closer, and to see the moon.

I think that that's what Bishop Budde was after. Mr. President, that providential hand of a loving God who say you feel on your shoulder is the nail pierced hand of Jesus Christ, who shows us the Father's mercy
