Fun fact. In over 30 years of having people over to play games no noticeable damage to any game has happened because of food and drink. Not a bit. Even as teens.
The one thing that has caused game damage is compulsive card benders.
It's never food or drink. Stop being paranoid and be a good host

That being said, a bit of rubbing alcohol and elbow grease and the game lived to see another day just fine.
But in 20 years of gaming it’s only happened once.
Really nothing to be worried about unless people are very clumsy.
Only seen one bad spillage (not mine) and it was fine
And then there was the kid who put his can of soda ON the table instead of the cupholders and then knocked it over. 🤦
I kinda treasure the wear & tear, as it shows evidence of how much time we've spent enjoying the game.
We used paper towels and the game was fine afterwards, no noticeable marks.
This was 18 years ago. It hasn't happened since
This hobbies paranoia about food and drink baffles me
To this day, our board for the Taklons remains with red wine stains. And every time we put it on the table, it reminds us of that good memory and fun evening. 😄
After all, games are things. People are people. People are what matter.
Putting your toys above your guests is quite selfish when you unpack it.
That being said, I play with people who dine on Doritos and some of the cards are grimy and orange-tinted as a result.
However, that could be remedied by politely requesting guests wipe hands on napkins after partaking.
