If Judge Merchan would do his job and sentence Trump to jail next month it would prevent Don from attending the inauguration and wouldn’t be sworn in as the next POTUS. The only thing that stops a bully is to stand up to them otherwise millions including Judge Merchan are going to be in big trouble.

Even though they haven’t done anything wrong, Patel will have the power to destroy these people’s lives financially, emotionally, and mentally. To refuse to pardon them is simply cruel.

More importantly, if Patel goes after them, it will discourage others from standing up to defend Democracy.

The fact that these people are factually innocent will not guarantee protection from prosecution. Defending against a criminal case can be financially and emotionally devastating - even for who are consoled by their knowledge of innocence.

But what makes you think that a pardon granted by Biden will stop Trump & his minions of still harassing, prosecuting & ruining the life of all those pardoned? This is what is not being taken into consideration. I agree in principle with the pardons but, unfortunately, I thing they will be useless.

I very rarely disagree with Thom, but I take exception to this idea. When Republicans asked for preemptive blanket pardons, we ridiculed them saying if you did nothing wrong you wouldn't need a pardon. Now we want to do the same thing. This is very hypocritical and undermines the justice system.

Emailed @senatorbrown.bsky.social via his Senate website. I stated per caller Claire that tRUmp violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment by inciting an insurrection so therefore is not eligible to be sworn in on 1/20/25. Congress needs to have 2/3rds - 3/4th votes to determine his eligibility.
