Having survived the Lahaina fire storm and now watching the LA fire storm, I am convinced we need to retire the "once in a lifetime" characterization. We are living in the time of climate change & insufficient infrastructure investment. This will happen increasingly & we need to meet that reality.

In the area in CA that is burning now? It’s a ‘firebelt’ that historically burns every 2.5 years on average, going back to before it was a state, a result of indiscriminate building in areas that are ecologically evolved to burn on a regular basis.
