Did you use the GPU Resident Drawer to get a performance boost? If so, did you have any issues enabling it or did it "just work"? Or did simply upgrading give you performance improvements? ^^

Simply upgrading from URP 14 to 17 was already a big win. I didn't try the GPU Resident Drawer yet, but I might spend some time on that.

I'd say it went mostly just fine. There were a bunch of shaders that had to be updated / adjusted and some aren't working completely as before, but that depends on the size of the project. Reading the official upgrade guide and enabling the Compatibility Mode in URP is helpful.
