Listened to the episode. You’re not from the US, so how are you considered an expert on American pop culture? Not accusing but confused. I’m sure you are an expert on Indian pop culture.

What constitutes expertise in your opinion about *any* cultural commodity? Is it being tied to nationality in which case a great many writers in the US should not be writing about Squid Game and Hayao Miyazaki, or Han Kang... Very curious 🤔
IMHO Someone who has grown up here has more authority as a cultural commentator than someone who hasn’t, because they have much more experience with the culture. I agree that it’s great to get outside perspectives on American culture, but that’s not how this particular perspective was presented.
You weren’t reviewing the film as I understood it as a listener. When I listen to that program I understand the commentators to be experts in their field. Maybe that was not a correct understanding of who they invite to be guests on the program. If so, that’s my bad and I apologize.
