Of course he did, that's the way of the world, but there's a right and wrong way to conduct your business. Ratcliffe thinking Newcastle should just roll over for him! Our owners negotiated and paid a fee, whereas Jim wanted him for free and let the world know about it

I don't disagree that United went about it the wrong way. But I also distinctly remember a fair few Newcastle fans thinking Brighton should simply roll over and allow him to go to Newcastle at the time too because we're "little old Brighton"

Wasn't really the same. Newcastle made a formal approach to Brighton, whereas Man Utd tapped him up on the sly. There's no denying that Man Utd fans goading us about taking our sporting director only to sack him 10 minutes later is objectively hilarious.

Sure, there may have been differences in the approach to acquire him, but both times he left for a bigger slice of cake. Regardless of our perceptions on how he left both Brighton and Newcastle, we can certainly agree it is absolutely hilarious that Man U have sacked him 😂
