I mainly try to keep to yoga when I post, I feel like there are some other topics on which I'd like to share my opinion, knowing that it is just that--an opinion. For example, let's talk about the US Electoral College.

There's been debate about whether we should get rid of the electoral college for a really long time. And if we wanted to change it, it means changing the Constitution, which is a difficult process involving the Congress and the State governments all agreeing together, which feels impossible.
However, if we look at this as a States issue, I think we can find some common ground and begin to move into a more modern and equal resolution. 2 states, Maine and Nebraska, have changed how they allot their electoral votes. The other 48 states use a "winner-take-all" system, where a candidate
wins all the votes in that state when they get 50+% of the popular in that state. However, in Maine & Nebraska, they proportion out the votes by percentage of popular vote. Meaning, if one candidate gets 40% of the popular vote, they are allotted 40% of the electoral votes. This was a state
legislation action that didn't need federal consensus or ratification of a majority of states to bring to action. It's my opinion that if we could start to pressure our state legislators to pass a bill like this we can move into a more representative overall presidential outcome. What do you think?
