I made cheese & bacon potato skins for dinner, like some sort of 90’s low rent Harvester pub. Completely fucked it. Potato - skin ratio all off. Day ruined.

Well at least it gives you a chance to order pizza I like ham and black olives with extra cheese if you could possibly get that I love it. I don't actually have to eat it just a picture of it is enough for me i'm old
I totally fucked up a two egg, onion, cheddar cheese and chopped tomato omelette this morning
And I have been known throughout my adult life for making great omelettes
The next one,
My wife’s
Came out perfect
Lol
Parboil, scoop potatoes out of skins and mash coarsely. Set aside half or more for mashed potatoes. Mix up the rest with salt, pepper, and a *little* milk or sour cream. Refill skins and top with cheese, cooked bacon, and chives. Bake until skin is crispy and cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
I am preparing dinner for myself and friends! I need you here now. It would be great to have someone to blame.
I hope your meal was actually enjoyed and ... better luck next time.
I love potato skins but haven’t had them in a while. Now I need them and will be fixating on them for all eternity until I eat them. My life priorities have shifted.
Huh, I was just in a chain restaurant (got autocorrected to ‘restraint’) looking over their glossy photo-filled menu and thought to myself, “whatever happened to potato skins?” They were often just quasi-edible boats of grease and processed cheese, but I don’t remember when they disappeared.
See people sharing recipes, so - bake potatoes, half and scoop out middles. Deep fry skins until golden.
Fry onions and smoked bacon lardons, add pinch of oregano & black pepper. Mix bacon, onions, grated cheddar and chopped spring onion; fill potato skins. Bake and serve with sour cream.
Make baked potatoes. Scoop out potato. Mix with a fuckton of butter and add in fried chopped bacon. Replace potato into skins. Eat excess. Lick the spoon. Eat the potatoes. Realise you made too much and need a lie down. Add wine. Add more wine. Repeat last step until, I dunno.... 😉
Its an etiquette nightmare, is it acceptable to leg it plate in hand knocking aunts, uncles and small kids out of the way as soon as the buffet is open to get in before said strangers...?
There's one sitting in the middle of a leisure centre car park about 3 miles from where I sit right now. I think people get excited about the all you can eat aspect.
Oh I feel this, used to work for Tom Cobley in my first hospitality job, they did great potato skins but my favourite was the large Yorkshire pudding with beans, sausages and bacon bits!
Any pub with a kids "soft play" should be avoided like the plague imo. I don't need to be a participent to your kid's daycare so you can have a meal, and anxiety looking after them, while I enjoy my cheap ish "pub grub" thank you.
Same. I used to work next to such a place and it was convenient to go for quick and easy lunch with colleagues. Wouldn't want to plan a visit there on a Saturday or anything.
For sure. Although those Brewer's Fayre type places serve a very specific purpose don't they. They just aren't places you can go to relax for a drink (without kids)
Best way is fried onions & garlic in butter, mixed w tater guts, sour cream and cheddar cheese. Bacon if yer stomach can handle it; I can chug a Sriracha Mini and not feel a thing but one morsel of bacon and it's like I'm John Hurt in Alien.
"I made cheese & bacon potato skins for dinner."
How can you make "cheese & bacon potato skins" When you "binned the potatoes and skins"?
So you made cheese and bacon then?

Sincerely, a smug Harvester chef.

There’s definitely still one in Crystal Palace.
Starting to think you’re stalking me now Lise 😂
And technically it’s Upper Norwood babes.
South Norwood is a different beast altogether.
Let the stalking begin!
Love it there.
Still got a place there on Beulah Hill.
I was there early 2000s.
A lot more upmarket now.

I think that was the happiest week of my Dad’s life.
It was 5 minutes from the flat so we would stagger there every night.
Think he was on first name terms with the staff by the end of the week.
Dad went through the menu.
But where a lot of parents choose to have birthday parties.
That was the only time we went.
We would hire a church hall and have a disco.
No need to subject other people to a large group of hyperactive 6 year olds.
Although the two we were with last weekend were extremely well behaved.
You do know children are starving?

So you made cheese and bacon then?
The only thing I can successfully prepare every time is a bowl of Rice Krispies.
