I installed Ubuntu on unsupported hardware due to this issue. A Microsoft Surface Go ironically. Works even better now than it did running Windows 10 and will last me years yet

I've never owned a Mac and don't particularly like MacOS, but if I'm forced to buy a new PC next year because I can no longer get updates for my perfectly serviceable Win 10 machine I may well look at a Mac, especially given the way Microsoft is surfacing ads in Win 11. I doubt I'll be the only one.

Hmm. I did the whole switching to Linux (Ubuntu) a few years ago and whilst it was a fun experiment it was too frustrating. I don't want to have to Google how to do basic things I can do in Windows with my eyes shut, and frankly it made me appreciate how good Windows actually is, despite everything.

Win 7 was 2009 - 2020 (11 years), 8.1 was 2013 - 2023 (10 years), and Win 10 will be 2015 - 2025 (10 years). Par for the course on support window, but an upgrade to Win 11 is free and officially supported on AMD Zen 2000 series or Intel 8000 series and above (2018). Use Rufus to remove TPM req

I 100% agree with you on this. Honestly, just spent only $100 on a nice little NUC rip off that is fully TPM 2.0 compatible. Not everyone can afford that though and not to mention the ewaste. Sometimes, it’s worth a risk to get a few extra months/years out of a system.
