The crazy thing to think about is that 50 people visiting an artists' gallery exhibit is considered a success for the artist and gallery, social media numbers are insanity by comparison

I think that ppl visiting a gallery also really look at the art pieces. Unlike on social media. People usually look for a second and scroll away, some might leave a like tho
i think part of it is the practical barrier to access. fifty people going to an art gallery is huge because that’s fifty people who have spent the time, money, and effort to go somewhere specific. social media is more about someone seeing something come across their timeline and hitting ‘like.’
I once had a mom travel out of state to visit my comic exhibition at an art museum and cried to me about how impacted she was by my comic and I think about it on a semi-daily basis.
I guess I must truly suck absolute huge donkey balls with my art as I've never been able to get any recognition even on social media then... Let alone anything "real". There's a reason why I post so little and do so little when it all feels like absolute waste of time. 😕
I think your audience matters. You have like 3x the followers as me, but its still a small account, and I see a lot of dormant accounts. I post stuff that I poured hours and hours into for no one to even see it, or if they do...I think they just think its crappy. Its just test renders from 3DSMAX.
Maybe they think its like "done" and I am very proud. I basically set up templates to work from for simple stuff like this, and can use whatever materials I like, so I like to dork around with them. Always funky, because I'm usually tring to test other things at the same time!
Whats even worse, my other, more involved..."hobby" garnishes no attention at all. I don't even speak of it. Frustrating when "art" is actually part of it, even its functional art. You can't make people like things, no matter how cool or quality, so I accept that. They like chinese solar toys.
I didn't know Quakes music was by Trent until I played it, and was like, "That is fucking NIN, no way its not."
Sure enough, plain as day...I was just so thrilled about an actual 3D Doom seqal...good game, but not like DOOM was such a leap with 2.5D over Wolfenstien. iD Games...smart dudes.
Trent is my musical hero. From my image of having ROUGH sex, to seeing him as a very complex and talented musician. I find him extremely interesting. He's a manly dude, and I like his brand of masculinity, borderline violent, but intense. But not constant. Its something missing these days. Passion.
Nice catch. When you mentioned it, I was like "It does sound it" but remembered downloading the mic gordan soundtrack just days ago. Thanks for addressing that, we don't want confusion amont my favorite things. Looking like a fool is no fun either :).
Now I have to go find the other file to listen.

I guess physical sales or individuals visiting your thing is considered to be far more tangible than social media engagement.
