So proud of my community and the students. This is HUGE here right now. Screen printers are mass producing Tshirts. Volunteer lists to distribute are out. Lots of good trouble here in Boise
Considering Little said all of Idaho is behind Trump and Trump praises him on truth social for the bills he has now passed it truly is but I've been seeing that the protests outside that state capital are growing.
And I have these exact words in my windows in 3 languages at my school and everyone’s like “where can I get one of those”. Living in a blue state is amazing. I feel for this teacher and hope she wins her right to be a decent human being.
Ummm those people who do not like this sign already belong to a very large group, they are known to have a few names like KKK, white nationalists, white Christian nationalists, republicans.......
I think it means that they are bigoted people with fascism and hatred ruling their thoughts. ( When they are allowed to think).
Republicans have all had labotomies
I watched in horror. Bad enough they want teachers who are willing to take a bullet, but now want them to take their hate too? Enough!! Let teachers know you stand with them against any enemy to your child.
Only someone who has never been excluded or threatened for who they love or what they look like would believe that explicitly reinforcing that somewhere is a safe place is superfluous.
If they come for a single poster in my classroom, I will over comply, and they can see what my classroom would look like without a dime from me. After 30 years, it would be a bare cell, except for a rug and a few pencils, and some desks.
The sentiment of "everyone is welcome" is not offensive in the slightest. I'm more concerned about why all the kids have to get heart tattoos on their palms. It's kind of cult-y.
Sawthe article about this. Totally racist what the district was trying to do by banning it without saying deliberately what they why. I wish they were called out more this story is crazy it’s happening in 2025 the censorship on all welcoming races to the classroom when kids need that 😔
I don’t understand their logic? But I’m willing to bet they want to welcome straight white children only, if I knew any Nazi magats I’d ask them to Splain it to me!
I think kids shou;d be exposed to different languages & learn everyone regardless of looks/beliefs/language/etc are all the same. All my employees speak 2 languages (neither is English). I know now 2, but started my second (Spanish) at age 40 and wow... if only I had learned that as a little kid.
Months ago I warned office personnel at my granddaughter’s elem. school that the same poster might cause problems. Fortunately, living in Minnesota might forestall that.
My son taught me a wonderful lesson many years ago. I think his 10th BD
His friends were at our house, Indian, Thai, Greek, Serbian, etc.
I asked him "What nationality are all the kids?"
He looked around at each one and said "Australian Dad"
Oh, he was right.
he's still mates with all of them.
Not like my father unfortunately. He was an Irish immigrant to Australia. He would ask where all the Aussies were. I'd say, they are Australian. And then I'd say, oh the whities? No they won't do this job. Love him but racist as.
I loved the part of the story on MSNBC where they highlighted the principal's "that's an opinion not everyone agrees." The absolute jabberwockyness of that was astounding. So I guess THOU SHALT NOT KILL with an array of skin color arms would get banned, too!
In my hometown (Groton, MA) there was a ridiculous debate a few yrs ago about plaques near the town lines that said "All are welcome here". People were offended and didn't want signs to tell others that just anybody was welcome 🙃 So stupid.
I went to high school in Westford in the 1970s. I remember realizing that the only kid in the school who wasn’t white was the foreign exchange student. We lived in Florida when I was in junior high, and that definitely was not the case.
I graduated in 2000 and the entire time in school there was only one Black student, he joined us in HS through school choice from Ayer & people *constantly* talked about how it was bc Groton-Dunstable & Ayer combined football teams. He was the greatest guy. I don't live in town anymore but nearby-
The area thankfully is more diverse now. But not very. I just remembered we had a classmate through MS who was Black (white mom), and we did have a student from Japan move here in 5th grade. So. That was the "variety" I grew up with- the area was sundown towns too, Groton def was. Shameful. 😞😠
I'm sorry. Yeah for a blue dem-majority state w a rep for being liberal, a lot of the towns outside Boston weren't at all diverse when I was growing up. I'm glad it's changing; diversity is an important part of healthy communities. We all lose out when everyone is homogeneous whole-milk white.
*sorry, the rocks are engraved, not a plaque placed on them. But some people were big mad about it. In the end, those people lost thankfully, and the rocks stayed. https://www.bostonmagazine.com/2017/10/24/groton/
I remember posters like this in the classroom when I was in elementary school in the 1960's. I could have NEVER imagined that they are being banned now. I thought the world would be better by now, but I never thought evil bigots would rule our country. It is heartbreaking.
