It's not politically correct to talk about how many regular folks are just... evil people.

But that doesn't mean it isn't true. Because obviously it is. And we damage everybody's understanding of reality when we pretend they don't exist.

I think competition is just hardwired into our brains genetically and it comes in many forms. One of them is financial, another is looks, intelligence, identity, ideology, so on. People just want to feel superior.

And you see it with Trump supporters and bigots in general. It’s not even that they want to be in power, but they need to have access to the suffering of the people they dominate. They will come into your world to make you miserable because that’s where the joy of the aggression is.

When I was a kid, I couldn’t fathom these people existing. Weren’t they watching the same movies as me? Why would they behave as the villains? Their behaviour was clearly not celebrated anywhere, so why?

In some ways, I still don’t get it.
