I looked this guy up on linkedin and he's been at the SSA for 26 years. worked his way up from IT grunt to associate commissioner

all i knew about severance was the general conceit and i figured it was a high concept sci-fi show about alienation and capitalism but 3 episodes in and im getting more mystery box/lost vibes. it’s good but kinda disappointed

the moderate position is “people need to go to prison” for the deportation of people to el salvadoran concentration camps. the radical position is something akin to guillotines on the washington mall

welp there it is. saw this one coming a mile away unfortunately but that doesn’t make it any less horrific

representation is good. it also cannot be the limit of anti-racist policies, and in the corporate world was often little more than marketing. also true that some number of people who’ve argued that dems need to move away from representation believed that because they themselves are racist

can't get over the fact that the population of the world is over 8 billion human beings and it's growing, substantially, and there are people talking about declining birth rates posing an existential threat to humanity.

Cuomo still lost one congressional district to Cynthia Nixon in 2018 as he was winning by 30 points: the 20th, which has Albany and a critical mass of state employees

Human population: 8.2 billion Daily increase: about 227,000 Average annual increase: about 70 million How insane and/or racist do you need to be to see that and think that "the notion that humanity ought to persist on this earth" is an uncommon belief, let alone a besieged one that must be revived?

some of the stuff like greenland people can say they didn’t vote for. but they very much voted for tariffs and mass deportations. i have a bottomless well of contempt for people who chose this

I just cannot wrap my head around why people think whether families have babies, a few babies, or lots of them, should be a part of political discourse at all? I mean, the notion that humanity is threatened by low birth rates is patently absurd.

lord willing we will one day prosecute miller for crimes against humanity

does anyone have a cannon pointed at the sun I can borrow? need to shoot myself into the sun with a cannon

i think reasonable people can disagree about the optimal strategy for dems right now, especially in regards to dealing with the coming economic shocks. i don’t think reasonable people can disagree that the strategy followed by dems thus far has been very bad, and not recognizable as strategy at all

once i saw a short paragraph describing a certain type of guy who would hang out at the telegraph office, stay updated on the news, and opine to anyone in earshot about it

I’m not kidding; this is DOGE at work; multiple US citizens getting notices that they just leave the country because USCIS is revoking their humanitarian parole. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

I believe this and also think they should be saying shit like "we will investigate and prosecute insider trading and corruption to the fullest extent the law allows and nobody is immune"

I've got a piece up at @liberalcurrents.com clarifying whether Trump is trying to install merely an authoritarian regime or a properly fascist one in the federal government. My conclusion: we're facing Actual Fascism. www.liberalcurrents.com/yes-its-fasc...

3rd Elden Ring play through, because both first times I basically ignored Holy (and Arcane, but still ignoring that this time lol) and figured it'd be like starting from near scratch. so far that's been true, harder than the 2nd play through, which just improved on original Int/Dex strat

I've already given the only take you need for the recent UAW discourse
