Arcane is sick as hell and totally busted. Holy gets unfairly hated on but is off the charts good in shadow.

I run holy a lot, and it tends to rip through early and midgame but a lot of endgame bosses resist it, unfortunately.
Never stopped me and never will, but it's worth knowing.

Arcane is fun, though! Elenoras Poleblade to whack bosses a bunch of times quickly, lord of bloods exultation and milicents prostheses so the hits increase your attack power, then hit 'em with a dragonmaw which stacks on all that extra damage you built up.

update: absolutely cruising with blasphemous blade, godslayer’s greatsword, uchigatana + sacred blade, and winged scythe as the weapons i cycle through depending on the boss. go-to incants are black flame and stone of gurranc

Beastmaster incants and blasphemous blade are a great combo, it just sucks that you have to go out of your way to get all the death root needed to get something as useful as Stone of Gurranq

I'm halfway into a pure strength build (maybe with some faith soon) using the colossal greatsword, but I really wanna try a faith-based winged scythe run at some point.

Wish I could juggle between weapons like you to, but I'm really able to stick to one, especially after investing in it

i think faith requires you to be flexible, when i did int/dex runs i tended to be more limited. it sort of makes up for being under-powered vs bosses by being extremely versatile but if you aren’t taking advantage of that the. you’re kinda stuck

God slayer's great word is so satisfying because it hits like a truck while being as fast as a sword a category down, but blasphemous blade has the "I win" weapon art. Both very satisfying to knock people around and break poise

arcane is the most fun stat imo. every standard smithing weapon becomes viable with an occult or bleed attunement and you can do all sorts of bizarre bleed/frostbite/rot shenanigans

arcane existing as a stat with actual scaling makes me kinda sad, because my favorite thing in souls games is putting everything into luck/discovery for 15-25 levels. The exasperated reactions of my partners is worth the pain 😇

I started a faith playthrough and ended up pairing it with arcane. If you go after any of the dragon stuff you will end up doing that! You can work bleed into your faith build that way, AND madness, AND you get the really cool spells where you grow a giant dragon head and spew rot

yeah I was thinking if I end up abandoning the physical weapons altogether, at least for some bosses, I might just use the silver tear mask to boost my arcane and get some of those dragon incants in play

Did you mean Faith or do you mean actual Holy damage? Did Str+Faith for my playthrough and I found that the good Faith weapons are kind of backloaded. I remember going to Mt Gelmir pretty early and grabbing some weapons that helped me a lot though most dealt fire damage.

so winged scythe makes everything but the big bosses actually pretty easy, it destroys most mid-tier and NPC bosses. but the big bosses it feels like it needs to be incants right now. but yeah I am excited to get into the DLC, which I will do after Elden beast but probably before Melania

it's a pretty slow somber weapon, almost feels like a colossal weapon, but the ash of war is fantastic because it hits hard, twice, and immediately stun locks just about everyone except crucible knights. so it just mows through low- and mid-level guys with easy spamming

I went with holy because even though I know the big bosses are all resistant, it just has so much variety! you can do flame spells, black flame spells, golden rings, dragon spells, lightning spells, bestial spells, it's wild! figured it'd be a whole thing to work through and so far that's been right
