Honestly, I wish the atheist (because religious people *can* be scientists!) side of the whole argument would be more honest about things they believe but can't prove.

for me, content disproving or arguing against religious ideology is most effective when it isn’t presented in direct opposition to religion. it was effective in my life when it was presented as its own idea that made sense and i made the comparison to religion on my own.

I come at this from the perspective of an evangelical atheist. I think current religion creates a lot of societal harm, especially the 2 big ones (✝️☪️)

There will be people who are in doubt, and having some opposition on the other side is good, actually. The religious people won’t stop preaching

Also, the current argument is less one that I can’t believe in something that I can’t prove, it’s that the evidence for especially the biblical god is more negative than positive

Anyway, I just don’t want children to be sent to conversion therapy, and religious people tend to be the ones to do that

Anyway, if you’re convinced that religion is more good than bad, then stopping to talk is a mistake.

Because the other side most certainly won’t shit up.

But yeah, the argument does get repetitive, it’s aimed at people who only heard one side before (usually the christian one)

And, I genuinely believe a rich life has room for both. There are some things that require faith, and others that require proof and academic vigor. There's even research to show those who rely on their faith or higher power heal faster.
