I expect Musk to push to end NASA spending on rocket development. Despite the fact that Artemis has flown around the Moon and Musk is still trying to get his big rocket to launch and land correctly, he'll push SpaceX as a huge savings. Maybe even true, but the goal is to line his pockets even more.

But even if that's not what happens, the information that Musk and Ramaswamy will have access to is worth billions to private companies. The will use their government access to line their pockets. Their only real function for Trump is TV: he doesn't care what gets one, only what it looks like.

It's not even that... it's not a real department. It's a Presidential Advisory group, that's it. Congress is not going to make it a Department, aka, a Cabinet Position. I do think that, if there were a coordinated effort in the media, with many stories every day about how Musk is now co-President and also the new First Lady, Trump's ego would have him ousted ASAP. It won't happen, because mainstream media is run by billionaires who are already kowtowing to Trump.

I have serious doubts over whether politicians will vote for any cuts identified due to political backlash, but US debt is out of control and any attempt to balance the budget (at a minimum) is welcome. A financial crisis from letting debt continue to grow will severely harm a lot of people.
