I think it was more WWE stopping it than John. Wouldn’t be surprised if Vince was terrified of the merch revenue loss because I saw an interview where Cena said if he went heel he’s doing it 100%. No merch, no make-a-wish, nothing.
In kayfabe, he knows his fastball's gone. He's been racking up losses, and this is his last year. But damnit, does he desperately want that record-breaking 17th title win.
The problem is, in kayfabe he’s just earned a title shot without that. So they’ll need some explaining. But I thought the actual angle and delivery was excellent and it’ll be great to see Cena let loose.
Cena didn't have to qualify for the Chamber. Assuming that was part of the deal. Has there been anything else that's been subtly helping Cena get back on top?
That’s a good point, but then it didn’t really play in the match. He didn’t get any help (unless you could the Rollins bit on Punk). And then the turn came after he’d won the match fairly. The explanation will be interesting.
Also kayfabe-wise this is the most terrifying duo in wrestling history. I've already said that The "Final Boss" Rock was the scariest character ever because it was "What if your boss was also a Hall of Fame-caliber wrestler." He has now teamed with "Evil Superman funded by a billionaire." SCARY!!!
