It's kind of a western thing, I think. They were very popular - my Dad LOVED them - and then they vanished, only to be brought back by a woman in Camrose, AB. Neat story and history. It's almost like a resistance chocolate bar!
I grew up in Calgary and yeah, everywhere has them. I think Frito Lay being based in Ontario might have something to do with it. "Nice little shop you got here"
