If I was willing to let myself doom, "the majority of online leftists consider the idea that America has ever been involved in good things as a challenge" is probably something that would give me a significant spiral

Only from your second post can I infer that you believe the inside quote to be true. But why would you spiral over the naïveté of others? After all— it’s easier to break things or be a hermit and sanctimonious than to build things and be “compromised,” yet involved.
basically! and like, yeah, the country has done bad shit at times, but it's also done good shit because people believed it was able to do good shit and fought for it.
Most of us don’t believe “America” has done anything. Nation states aren’t actual beings. They are a collection of people at a given time. “America” is used as short hand to describe those people. Obsessing over the inherent good or evil is something only nationalists and tankies do
this post was not about you, it was about the people who take the statement that "America has been involved in positive things at times" as a challenge.
Yes. That’s why we use it. And when that concept becomes more than that and takes on an independent identity of its own we have a problem. Which is my point.
Having taught Environmental Policy and Law for about seven years now, I can list a dozen things we've done that really improved people's lives, both here and in other countries, with barely thinking about it
yes a few of those things are under threat but I hope calmer heads prevail.
A disturbing percentage of them seem to think it works the other way, too: that if they let the Fascists do the destroying of America, they will be plowing the field for the coming Glorious Proletarian Communist Revolution to finally usher in the Workers' Paradise. Doesn't work that way, however.
Those are mostly kids. You're falling for right wing propaganda here.
Nobody wanted Trump to win, but for most of us, our entire lives have been right wing Dems, from Clinton on. They are intentionally not making things better.
Okay. Whats the plan if i want to plough fields with fascists. Like. Not use them as workers, use them as farm implements. Drag them through the fields to get the soil ready for planting?
human bodies are almost uniformly the wrong shape for a plowblade. You can perhaps get somewhere with a shoulder blade but I doubt it would be very strong
It's nowhere near a majority, in my experience it's one in 100.. but it's a useful perspective for wedge drivers and people doing so aren't gonna NOT be toxic about it.
