Goold old Microprose days. Transport Tycoon having Easter Eggs on the form of UFO from the UFO: Enemy Unknown (a small one blowing up trucks, the large one blocking train stations and then blowing up after a X-Com plane flew by...) :)
This is always fun to see. In the same vein, it's no secret I love Berserk so I enjoy all of the references to it in the Soulsborne games (and there are many references). Warms my heart to see the love for Miura's masterpiece will endure in these games.
Agreed!! It’s the best!! I feel the same way about anime that references to other anime, makes me giggle and lets me feel like I’ve been around in that genre of media
Playing Final Fantasy (1) and having an Erderick(in modern versions of the game this is for Link) tombstone from Dragon Warrior (now Quest) blew like ten year old Andrew's mind.
I also love it when movies and tv shows do this. Especially other movies the director or cast have been involved in that are only immediately obvious to huge fans of those people
I’ve jumped out of my skin a few times when the dudes sneak up on me and the controls are… kind whack sometimes but the story is bad ass and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
I am actually really excited! I have been waiting to find a good time to fit them in, since I had some challenge runs already planned. That combined with waiting for a good sale 🤣 But this will be THE YEAR 🔥
yesssssss I just got the game My Little Life and it has a reference to Rusty's Retirement (one of the pets you can get is the little water bots from Rusty) and it just made my night when I saw it.
My favourite example is the Cyberpunk reference in dying light 2 in the form of a crude version of the mantis blades. This one is especially sick cause it's both ways and there's a dying light gun in Cyberpunk it's sick!
Lies Of P! They make some Bloodborne references but then I was dumb the first time I found one and thought there was a puzzle in the room when it was just a reference 😂.
Agreed! That shows some style among many other things. It's like watching a horror movie and seeing other movie posters in the background. Adds an element.
Yakuza Like a Dragon had references to various, dragon quest being the biggest as the the protagonist wants to be the hero . They use Pokémon references, mario brothers and others too.
I have it but haven't started it yet as I started with Like a dragon and when I realised that Infinite Wealth has both the old and new protagonist I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try Yakuza Kiwami . Finished that 2 days ago and now on 2, will play them all oh yeaaaaah! Loving them
Metaphor ReFantzio is chock-full of references to other Atlus games. One of the dungeons copies a dungeon from Etrian Odyssey down to the mechanics and item placements, a party member is a big Persona reference in both story and gameplay, that kind of thing. It's amazing.

I’m on episode 3 of Alan Wake Remastered now.
I’ve jumped out of my skin a few times when the dudes sneak up on me and the controls are… kind whack sometimes but the story is bad ass and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

I'll be a fraud with you 💙
Giving a shout out to another developer for their character is something that should happen more.
Reminds me of the assassins creed easter egg in the Witcher 2 🥲
