I have no problem with the art style. Looks like generic crappy CGI, what I object to was every bit of acting and writing in the trailer. And I appreciate that you can only do so much with what you're given but it looks so so so bad.

I still believe that the Sonic first trailer was just to get people talking about the movie, just for them to re-release the thing and people praise them for that, and i am thinking the same is happening to this one so in the end everyone will be in CGI and actors are gonna just voice the characters

Like, Minecraft IS giant between kids, the day the trailer launched i saw little kids pretending they were in minecraft in the Supermarket.
These kids don't really care If the movie IS good, they will swarm all theaters, watch the movie 10x each cause Minecraft

That is valid. But I also feel like that there's a tendency for movies to be made poorly on purpose, so that studios can say "oh yay, we never need to make a movie like this ever again since this isn't what people want!" or something similar.

This really got under my skin when it was happening. Drag the artists back into the studio to replace the main character of an animated film because of the decisions of an out of touch director three spaces above them on the corporate ladder.

Yeah like sonic was one model, he was the main character so they still had to do a lot of work but apart from him everything looked fine. Minecraft is just an ugly-looking movie from top to bottom and no amount of crunch will be able to miraculously save it

I wish the studios would just realize that not every property can go to every medium. Minecraft should have never even been looked at for a movie for the same reason why you'd never make a Requiem for a Dream video game.

i could see it being good, there is a lot of elements that could go well in a story from the villagers to the dimensions / bosses, could be an awesome little ANIMATED movie, but they chose known names and live action out of every option they could have chosen.

Finally watched the trailer just now. My 16 year old said something about hating it the other day and I ignored it. My 8 year olds will probably love it and I'll go with them and be as lost as my mom would be watching the Mario movie. I got some references but most of that seemed very applause sign

I do hope you realize that it's not gameplay footage. Everything was hand-built, hand-textured, hand-modeled, etc. by CGI artists. That is not what Minecraft looks like.

Crunch wouldn't even do anything. The movie has "Ghostwritten by the C-suite" written all over it. It's going to be a terrible movie through and through that will still make at least a quarter-million dollars at the box office because Minecraft is too big to fail.

Difference is Sonic was mostly live action and I'm sure they were able to reuse the animation rigs. The Minecraft movie is pure CGI
