Over and over, Paul was like yeah guys, I know what Jesus said feels like the opposite of what the world has taught you, and that's because ... it is the opposite. "Common sense" has no power here

I can't echo this enough. Passage through the narrow gate, the Kingdom of Heaven, is accessible only when we are able to step outside of who we think we are, when we are able to unload (and unlearn) what we've acquired.
Only then are we able to start hearing God's will more clearly. 💙☀️🌷🙏
The gospels are full of JD Vances who approach Jesus and say stuff like "surely you don't LITERALLY mean I should love my enemy as much as I love myself" and Jesus is like hmm ok let's take it from the top one more time, say there's this guy walking down the street and you can't stand him ....
They've been trying to contort the Gospel into "common sense" since before it was even written down. JD Vance's 900 IQ Yale brainlogic is no more advanced than that of the very sensible men recorded as standing in front of Jesus, refusing to comprehend society being restored by being overturned
Plus it totally makes sense to say "it would be harder to [pretty easy thing] than to [do really quite easy thing]" in a sermon. He was just out there saying random obvious stuff for no reason or something.
“But Paul don’t I HAVE to prioritize my family.” - some dude
“Good point, if you can avoid having a family don’t have one so you’ll be freer to love everyone, if not love your family AND everyone (which will be harder) next question.” - Paul
