I'm not impressed with any of the launch day games, but I will be definitely checking out Pokemon SV on launch to see the patch. It would be really smart for Nintendo to launch a really fun outbreak or legendary raid during launch week.

Seems like it. The Switch 1 isn't strong enough to get these upgrades the games are getting. Several games are all getting a patch like this on release day, and likely more games will get patched in the future.

i get why from a fairness standpoint; you want to make sure all games are at the same standard level of gameplay performance, with the same time per move and per battle action, and the same bugs and glitches if need be

My thought (though I have nothing to base this off of) is that maybe they can't connect a Switch & Switch 2 via the in game system. We'll have to see when it drops thought.

It's probably a docking issue. The Switch 2 probably needs a different dock than the Switch and TPCi can't get the 1000+ new docks needed in time for tournaments. It's a massive logistics issue.

So yeah that likely means a resolution bump and not much else

Only the games that are getting new content cost $10 for the update, like Kirby and Mario Party. A lot of Switch games that aren't getting new content are getting free visual upgrades.

It's a mixed bag, from my knowledge some are some aren't. I'm not complaining. It's kinda whatever to me. I'm not buying the Switch 2. I canceled my pre-order, and I sold my Switch OLED. Was just saying that if they tried to charge for a fix to the mess they made, that'd be ridiculous.

This is incorrect. Games that largely focus on visual upgrades with minor content improvements are $10 (BOTW and TOTK, presumably Prime 4 and Z-A). Games which add large amounts of content are $20 (Mario Party, Kirby)

Honestly, locking the potential for me to actually be able to play this without constant breaks from the glitches making me motion sick behind buying an entire new console feels like a slap in the face. I didn't give a shit about the 5fps alphas in PLA, but SV glitches can be actively inaccessible 😕

There's more than just performance problems with ScVi. The game is generally pretty janky, a fairly empty open world, minimal post game and releasing in a buggy state that isn't justifiable.
