We think that we can create a "blue wave", oust this regime, and say adults are in charge again: why would the world trust us? Ever? Like the abuser who says sorry, I didn't mean it...
The US is still an important economy, but a country's status can change quickly. Until January, America was a functioning democracy.
The 4.2% of the world's population who are American will sadly have to adapt to not being leaders of the 'free world', and possibly not even members of it.
Some of us care, but we can’t do very much from the other side of the oceans.
Just encourage you to keep on fighting, keep in demonstrating for your democracy.
This is what happens when you have a crazed lunatic that thinks your country is only thing that matters. America is about to find out the hard way that isolation from the rest of the world does not work.
Unfortunately isolation is a part of the Narcissist playbook, to ensure that their victims cannot escape easily. All this BS happening in the first three months is really making the next few years out to be nothing more than abusive.
This government’s problem - and really it has been a problem with so many others as well- is its hubris. Yes, we are a great nation, but we are made great (er) because of the brilliance of the Europeans.
that's not THIS governmnet's problem; their problem is that they work for russia and many of them are even too stupid to notice, I bet.
Apart from this specific outlier case, your comment is spot on.
We can also afford to be brilliant due to the safety created by protection of USA armed forces.
It's already underway. Airlines will be soon publishing stats showing a progressive decline in tourists coming to the USA. Tourism is big business in the US and the impact will be very noticeable. The US is no longer trusted by any Country although they may say otherwise to stroke the President.
the only thing they'll miss is the food we produce... last data I saw says only a 60 day surplus of food world wide.. lose a crop cycle (90 days) and we are on the edge of world wide famine. this with 2.3 Billion ( Yes Billion.. WHO) already living with food insecurity... not sure of their next meal
It’s happening in front of your eyes - new trading partners, new allies, new security alliances. I hope ‘Mericans are happy with how their choice in their last election is playing-out for them today and for the lasting future. You guys are officially buggered! FAFO🤣🇨🇦🍁🇺🇦🌻
There will be some growing pains, but we’ll get it done. Canadians, especially, will have to break some habits, but we’ll do it, because we don’t like being threatened.
During this ‘administration’ and going forward. No travel, no purchases. As you’ve stopped scientific research it will all move away. Sadly for you the best snd brightest will move. Until you stop them…
No one got together and decided that the US would be the leader of the free world - it happened because we have the largest economy, the most bombs, production numbers higher than the entire EU...
Trust me, plenty of us would LOVE to stop being the world's police, piggy bank, and problem solver.
We do a shit job at everything. None of this is our fucking responsibility and don't pretend that your governments don't come running to us to keep commerce running world wide.
Oh and shit man, if we park our Navy you guys can patrol the entire planet for a while, see what that does to y our taxes.
Cry me a river. That’s how you become a super power and tell everyone on the Planet that you’re the best country in the World. That shit don’t come cheap but makes you rich. Anyways, enjoy your isolation and all that
No, I’m from the country yours wants to annex despite us always having your back. So, not so respectfully, go fuck yourself and the clown show that runs your country.
No one is annexing your country. He's a dumb ass who literally talks about raping women in public. He can't invade Canada. The premise is as ridiculous as was his idea that the VP could overturn the 2020 election.
He's an asshole, I'm not one of the millions dumb enough to vote for him.
Can we bet money that the US is not going to be allowed to pull back our entire navy, our military bases all around the world, our support for NATO, the UN, etc? I would be okay with this if you don't want it.
You think your governments want that or is this just a trade war? It's just a trade war.
That happened days ago.
On day two australia's govt gave grants to beef and other exporters to find other markets.
The Brits are about to simply cancel AUKUS submarine deal and Australia will likely do the same. Trump gets reminded of what AUKUS is every time it comes up and the Au govt is annoyed
It's kind of like the abusive boyfriend/girlfriend stating you won't be able to survive without me. And you realize it's quite peaceful without them. There are some things you miss, but it's things you dont need. You are completely fine without them.
Been there and began to believe that I was the terrible person he said I was until i dumped his sorry lazy fucking ass and found out it was him making me a bitch and that i was a pretty nice person
We will be faster than your nonexistent uprising. 🇨🇦
We are now fingerprinted at the border if we stay longer than 30 days and our cell phones are checked for comments against your 🍊💩👑 !!
It's not hard. American food is largely banned here anyway because we have higher standards, and we cancelled Prime and Netflix ages ago. Never had meta or shitter, so to be honest I'm not missing anything.
I'd like to see us back in the EU and making strong ties with them, Canada and Australia.
As Japan and South Korea have already courted agreements with China so too will other major economic blocs. We are literally chasing our allies and trade partners into the arms of our self-declared enemy.
Yeah, trump thinks we’re the world. Too bad the rest of the world fought ward, conducted trade, and existed for thousands of years without us just fine.
Putin’s plan to isolate, weaken and fragment the United States using our village idiot..trump & republicans. While our military leaders sit back in fear.
I mentioned to a friend the other day who had studied the mysterious disappearance of the Cahokia settlement that we now know that sometimes, apparently, societies just decide to decline and evaporate
Even if it does take 5,000 years! Which it won't in a global economy that makes it easier for us all. The US is going to be very lonely without the rest of us.
From major world power to red-headed stepchild in 3 months. Trump erroneously thinks that the world revolves around him. He'll find out (and unfortunately we will, too) that other democracies or countries with democratic leanings find him intolerable. And it will only worsen.
even the flights that make a stop in a united states airport for refueling or maintenance aren't worth the risk these days, I mean even their airspace is dangerous with the amount of collisions and near misses having increased significantly since they fired so many workers who prevented those
You got that in reverse. The rest of the world has been enabling America. Environmentally, we've been "raping" other countries for decades. We exploit their cheap labor to pick our crops, clean our homes, make our junk. Americans need to figure out how to go it alone.
Canada's anti-vax trucker convoyers hated globalism and a 'new world order'. Pretty funny that those who fly confederate flags in CA are now forced to embrace global trade by those Americans who originated that awful flag.
It is being part of world trade that will see CA and other countries through.
We'll have a complete meltdown of our economy by the summer. The rest of the world will be rolling along just fine without us. America will come to learn just how unnecessary we are.
I honestly think it’ll be good for you, as a country. The “best country on earth” thing has always been not true, and I think a lot of Americans would do well to see that firsthand.
What if America's dominance over the last 50 years was just inertia?
What if it was easier for other countries to just play along?
Now trump ended that inertia and these countries are deciding if they want to take this opportunity to forge a new path.
He's fired anyone who knew anything about governing & geopolitics & just places sycophants to replace them. The REAL imbeciles are Republicans. They know exactly what Trump's policies are doing & yet they keep enabling him. For power? Money? Do they agree w/him?
There's a piece missing here I think.
I'm not sure how you could have missed it but there has been a parade of books from former White House officials talking about how he won't listen to experts, ignores advice, refuses to read documentation, ignores any semblance of protocol. Harris brought it up but MAGA doesn't care.
Other than taxpayers I think big businesses..special interests like gun lobby, etc. Musk of course has thrown in millions in Republican elections nationwide..
AIPAC/ Big Oil/ Pharma
Musk is a front man for Peter Thiel who has some odd plans
#NetworkState
Then the Evangelicals who think they are in charge.

These loyalists are all thugs. They are used to punching down and when someone gives them a bloody lip, they cry like the little nut sacks they are. Fucking morons with god complexes.
I have a friend who told me when the tarrifs started that the world could ruin us by selling the bonds they bought and I will be damned if she weren’t 100% correct. She’s not in finance, she is in healthcare, as is her husband.
Oh, I’ve read lots of posts on Bluesky from around the world, every once in a while I speak out and say please this is not all Americans. We are not old fascists. POTUS needs to be removed from office. He’s insane.
It's not just Trump... it's Heritage who helped him get in. The creators of P2025 chose the cabinet so they would have loyalists to carry out their plan & an obedient line of succession. They all gotta go, and new laws to enforce separation of church/ state & remove $ from politics. No PACs either.
P2025 is the actual POTUS calling the shots. The others are puppets. Trump voters are supporters of this whether they know it or not. The solution is reformation of the government to exclude control by PACs/ donors & fully separate church & State. Heritage won't allow Vance to be impeached.
Soon will be too late… there needs to be a gathering of the “best and brightest” of traditional liberals to organize and form a coalition to ally with sympathetic nations to put a stop to the Trump and Republican regime.
I hope it makes the world better overall. No more relying on the war brokerage machine and more dependence on diplomacy....it's a long shot, but it can be done.
Keep that anger in check tho: be angry at the government we currently have. Be angry at those who legitimately support him. There are a lot of us caught in the fire and doing what we can in the trenches to fight. We need that support.
Canadian here 👋 We do NOT hate the US. We hate your fascist government leaders. We hate your political climate that seems to be anti-everything and we really hate that we're still waiting to see you, the people, take back your country and protect your democracy. We are on the peoples side ✊
I really haven't talked to anybody who doesn't feel this way. What those rich fascists in government are doing to the American people is criminal and we ALL see it. The world really is behind the American PEOPLE. We are doing what we can on our end and sending love and strength your way ❤️✊❤️
Thanks again! Yes, the GOP have had a long, deliberate strategy to make sure that they can control the Gov., regardless. So let your friends know that this the doing of about 22% of the voters, and many of them are starting to regret it. If we can just hold on, we might yet turn this around.
The US doesn't need China. It was the corporations, their C suites, their shareholders and greedy investors who offshored manufacturing to China and US workers lost out. Trump is sanctioning the wrong people.
It was the smart business move. Go where your labor costs you less thereby increasing your profit. The Scandinavian countries form of social democracy actually works in the best interest of the people. They give corps tax breaks in return for keeping good paying jobs in country. Wouldn’t that benice
Bila shaka as we say in Swahili. American hegemony is a zombie shambling toward the grave. We’re still the biggest game in town, but it’s a fait accompli at this point.
I read last year where the BRICS economic bloc were studying creating their own "reserve currency" to replace the US Dollar, as part of the ongoing "de-dollarization" movement. So, I pitched a design for the new notes, but haven't heard back as yet: https://sinkers.org/stage/?p=3662
The world has a history of innovation for centuries before the invention of the US, I think we might manage, we just got lazy because America had to be first doing everything so we just let them.
They already figured it out and kicked us to the curve.
We are now irrelevant.
The ones who are screaming America First can now add America First, Alone and Isolated.
Let's see how they like living under a pariah regime.
Probably faster than USA working out how to manage without the rest of the world.
Better start building those steel foundries, oil refineries and copper mines five years sgo.
Right. We murdered more than a million people not even twenty years ago but this, this is what Europeans and Canadians think is the worst thing that the US has ever done and this is absolutely the last straw.
Many of us would be more than happy to not have to be the leader of the free world.
We may in time forgive this, but it won’t be forgotten.
& now 🍊🤡s corrupt market manipulation (under the guise of a trade war) has affected billions globally.
It’s v sad but 🇺🇸s are living in a bubble which is now about to burst.
Oh and there isn't a single European country that wants America to stop patrolling the oceans with our Navy. I keep forgetting about that. That's not something that even China has been able to replicate yet (though almost there). It's sort of the kind of thing Trump wants others to chip in for.
It will be interesting to see how a nation hooked on stores like HomeGoods and the Christmas tree store copes with higher prices and dwindling selection on shit they never needed in the first place.
It's already happening. We have lost our position because 78M people voted for a man with no leadership ability and bad ideas. And this will be the price. No allies. No "say."
This is squarely on the electorate. A broken, deluded electorate who fooled themselves into thinking that the Orange Dick Tater is good for America is reaping what they have sown. Other countries are pulling out their investments, the dollar is losing value, and faith in the U.S. is the cause.
We the PEOPLE should NOT STAND DOWN, no matter what! My PARENTS PROUDLY FOUGHT for my rights, serving in WWII! I will be DAMNED if an orange orangutan is going to step on THIS American lady’s toes and attempt to silence me! #Resistance
USA needs the the rest of the world, trade is a good thing, tariffs are not. Small business owners, farmers and the American consumers are going to pay the price of stupidity.
It shouldn't be that hard considering that nothing good is coming out of this country lately.
Hate, racism, misogyny, isolationism and mistrust is not a good look.
I think it's going to really hit the true believers really hard. The number of people that I've run across in my life that have bought into American exceptionalism is alarming.
That's fair. There are definitely some people who I tell a current event to and are just. Shocked. Like head in the sand, or only watching Fox like you said, and nothing has registered yet. I wonder if it ever will for some of those folks
We managed to get by very well for centuries without Japan, China and Korea, I'm sure we can last 4 years without Trump's USA. Every day we get closer to the fuckwit handing over power if he survives the 4 years.
It's remarkable the number of people who, with no concept of history whatsoever, think this trade war is what is going to split the US from the rest of the world. Good lord.
We murdered more than a million people not that long ago and clearly everyone forgot, they will forget this too.
It will take years for the US to once again be seen as the powerful ally and pillar of democracy it was before January 20, 2025. And I don’t know if Republicans will ever be seen as anything other than a Proto fascist movement that attacked the American people, the world, and democracy!
You know what... it won't be a crazy as people think it will be. In fact, this savor complex the powers at be like to think they have for the country is going to dry up like salted snail in the desert sun.
There's no real trade to have with Russia, that will last only as long as Trump is in office and the next president will start kissing world leaders ass. I hope they show us what kind of pillow they will be kneeling on during the election campaign.
The end of United States hegemony and unilateral global decision making is a good thing, at least. But the silver lining here is laced with arsenic. We may not survive as a democracy.
It's not. It might be for the better if it were going to happen but it's not. We murdered more than a million Iraqs not that long ago and everyone seems to have forgotten and think this trade war is the worst thing we have ever done.
We will survive. The GOP can't make money if it were the end.
Respectfully disagree. The end of U.S. hegemony means the U.S. can start to be held accountable. And I’m not hearing literally anyone say this is the worst America has ever done. By far.
The great American default, most of the World already 'gets by' without American goods, services, money, military. We just used to be friends and we shared. 🤦♂️

And to see how long it will take US citizens to understand their new status in the world. Some never will, but for the alert, international relations will be very different from now on.
They're not a free nation so not so much and they're still not the largest economy, the US is still at this moment the largest economy in the world. No one got together and decided that the US would be the leader of the free world, it happened b/c we have most of the money and bombs. We still do.
The US government does not have the most money. Instead, it has the most debts. It may have the most billionaires, but much of their wealth is based on the inflated value of the shares they own. The US may have the most bombs, but its ass got beaten in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
We have the most money. It's not about the US govt, it's about America and all of those rich people too.
I would not call occupying a nation a decade after we completed our mission there getting our asses kicked in Afghan. Vietnam was a cluster. No mention of Iraq? We murdered a million ppl!
Did the US win either the Gulf War in 91 and the Iraq War on its own? Where Afghanistan is concerned, did the US manage to overcome the Taliban at any time? The Taliban simply waited. The US would not have had the initial success without the other NATO countries as well as ANZ.
We go with help so that WE are all doing it. I'm not happy about the fact that we spend trillions of dollars on the military but the US certainly didn't need anyone's help, we could have flattened that country from the boat - Bush was looking for legitimization and Blair gave it to him. 😞
Most everyday people learn at a young age that no one is indispensable, and adjust their behavior accordingly. The very ‘special’ people currently making decisions seem to have missed this important lesson, among others.
China already has and making moves with the rest of the world to box the USA out of any trade. Make America great again is isolationism at its core and the MAGATS are about to find out.
True. Although, saying this as someone usually intently focused on worst-case scenarios...
There are absolutely a few paths forward in which this was a much-needed reality check about the genuine importance of being a good ally & partner. And that competence is a non-negotiable element in a leader.
It could take Europe two years to provide Ukraine with systems comparable to what the US has been providing. Like China, the US provides not just weapons and machinery but the parts, training, maintenance and maintenance training.
It's inefficient to replace an airplane over a replacement part.
The US has only been able to do so with borrowed money. Other than the East European countries and Israel, the rest of the world can get by without US military hardware.
I don't know the intricacies of world military dependency, but I have read that the US spends more on its military than the next 37 countries combined. I think we have traditionally been vital in a number of areas that will take time to replicate, including infrastructure and innovation.
Agreed
I was more reacting to goods that are not military.
Soy beans, citrus, any products that the US holds market share that can be sourced by other countries.
