(Anyway don’t fuck with me on my HGTV discourse analysis and political economy of real estate. I have been in the market, earnestly, for 15 years. I read trade sheets on housing for fun. Zillow knows my CC number.)

Oh! I forgot I asked my realtor at the time. She did gesture towards a professional best practices continuing education course. But mostly in the sense that the language was outdated. She made it seem like it was about sounded sophisticated.
I wrote "master bedroom" in a book, the copy editor changed it to "primary," and I thought, "Oh, yeah, I think I heard something about that, that seems fine." I suppose I could have written back "WHAT?" but it didn't occur to me.
Even if it *had* been more forceful, people acting oppressed over shifts in language that happen all the time in so many other contexts, when it's so easy just to say "oh, thanks for letting me know!" and then move on with your life? The only one making a big deal out of it was them.
Also wild how quickly the same people will learn a whoooole new vocab when it's some new fun appropriated slang they want in on, but if it's to correct for historic harm it's oppressive? Might be something else at play there, Karen...
