I wonder if you’d reconsider using “sanity” in this way. I love someone with mental illness, & I don’t like the comparison between brain disease and Trump’s hate and rage. They aren’t the same thing. Even if Trump is mentally ill (as some experts claim), his hate is an altogether different thing.

Mental illness is all-encompassing. Have you read the DS-5? We are witnessing the definition of insanity. I am empathetic to your point, but he is most definitely mentally ill. He is mommy & daddy issues personified. It's not being said to be disparaging. I also have someone I love who is not well.
