Beyond horrific. I think about my father, born of immigrant parents long before they became US citizens. English was his second language. He would be considered a dreamer in these times. He was able to go to college, served in WW2, was a career USAF officer. My heart is breaking for these children.

States have laws requiring public schools to accept all students regardless of immigration status. In fact they can’t even ask about it. A court order will be required to view any student records.

One of my coworkers is married to a teacher who works in a district surrounded by farms. Several of her students are children of migrants and she has a bag packed in her classroom in case she has to protect a child by keeping them at the school overnight.

Our son is in a two way immersion program. Half his classmates speak Spanish at home. He have a large undocumented immigrant community here.
