i'm from australia and our system of government gives us a Prime Minister, then the largest opposition's leader usually becomes LOTO and gets lots of media time to criticise the new gov't.

We have 2. the Leader of the Senate & the Speaker of the House. They are elected internally. For some reason our Speaker (Hakeem Jefferies) doesn't get the news coverage Nancy Pelosi used to. Our Senate Leader (Chuck Schumer) is toothless. Shouldn't still have that position.

Its difficult to say. I don't think she actively paved the way for him. But the level of seething hatred the MAGA crowd have for her may have been a motivating factor for those goons. I still remember her being a massive thorn in Trumps side from 2018 to 2020.

I'm sorry, no they weren't. Every single Dem in Senate made a statement. A ton of them voted against an uncontroversial cabinet member in protest. The governor of Illinois was raking him over the coals, Walz nailed him on TV, Chuck talked about his panic, and a ton of Dem AGs sued.

Trump wrote Executive Orders. The Legislative Branch (Congress) can't do anything about them. The Judicial Branch can which is why lawsuits were filed & stays were put in place just yesterday. We need to break the cycle of Dem bashing before the GOP controls 90% of the Legislative Branch.

It’s not bashing, it’s calling a spade a spade. Even if they cannot directly countermand an executive order they can file lawsuits to start. They can also work to slow anything & everything in Congress. Force quorum calls, cloture votes, roll call every vote. See how they like it for a change.

You have to have standing to file a lawsuit. They might have since the President took the Power of the Purse away but if they bring that lawsuit to SCOTUS Trump might end up with more power than he already has. The 2nd part is a gamble for how that gets twisted in news coverage.

I think it is more about the shared religious beliefs than anything else. Huge swaths of Muslims are POC, so while there might be some, i haven’t found that to be the prevailing case. They also tend to be business owners and the R party appeals to that side of them as well.
